Editorial standards
How we source, verify, and attribute the work we publish.
Sourcing
Every factual claim about the region is sourced to a published reference, a named interviewee, or the writer's direct observation. Cultural statements — the significance of a festival, the meaning of a song form, the origin of a dish — are attributed to participants, scholars, or documented sources.
Verification
Before publication, the editorial team reviews every story for factual accuracy, attribution, and tone. Interviews are quoted in context; oral histories are shared with the speaker before publication wherever possible.
Photography and image credits
Photographs are credited on every use. Where a photograph is not by the article's author, the photographer and source are named. Archival and Wikimedia images are used only where original photography is not available, and are clearly labelled.
Corrections
When we publish something that turns out to be wrong, we correct it openly, note what was changed, and date the correction on the article itself. Corrections can be requested at our contact page.
Conflicts of interest
Writers disclose personal or financial connections to the people, organisations, or communities they are reporting on. Sponsored content is not published.
Community standards
Discover Purvanchal publishes with respect for the people and practices it documents. We do not sensationalise religion, caste, or community life.
